The Center for Responsible Lending (CRL) respects your right to privacy and is committed to maintaining your confidence and trust. CRL does not collect any personal information from you without your knowledge and permission, and we do not ask that you enter any personal information to access or use most areas of the CRL website. We have created the following privacy policy to inform you about the ways in which we collect and use this information.

CRL will not sell or rent the information you provide or we collect through our website to any unaffiliated organization without your permission except to identify you to those you contact through our website, and to manage our website and database with the help of service providers, who are subject to a non-disclosure agreement. Information you provide CRL is stored in a secure location and is accessible only by designated staff.

From time to time, we may send you information from other like-minded organizations whose information or services we think subscribers might find interesting, but we do not exchange, trade, rent, or give email lists to unaffiliated third parties.

How does CRL use my personal information?

Depending on the portion of our site that you have subscribed to or interacted with, we may use your information in a number of ways:

Visitor Statistics

We collect aggregate information about visitors to our site. In order to better understand our audience, our web host provides us with statistics, e.g., the number of visits the site receives, the average visit length, common paths people take through the site, top referrers, terms used in search engines to locate the site, etc. This information does not identify users individually. Server statistics collected in aggregate are used to improve the content and navigability of the site. We do not sell, rent or otherwise make this information available to third parties of any kind.

Email Subscription

It is our policy to collect and store only personal information that visitors knowingly provide for communication purposes. Our site's registration form asks users to give us contact information (like name and email address). We use that contact information to send the user email updates and, when necessary, to contact the user.

Reviewing and Updating Your Subscriber Information

You can review and update the information we have on record for you by going to your subscriber profile. If it's your first time using the profile editor, you'll need to provide your email address on the log-in page so we can send you a password.

Opt-Out

Users can have their name and data removed from our database at any time by visiting the Subscription Management Page or sending email to web@responsiblelending.org with the subject "REMOVE" or "Remove Me".

Online Activism

To send a message from our online action center to government officials and other decision-makers you must identify yourself by name, address, email address, and in some cases, phone number. CRL includes this information when we send your message. This is necessary for your message to be effective, and in the case of many government officials it is required. Please note that comments sent to federal agencies may be made available publicly, often via the web, and will sometimes include the full name and address of the person(s) submitting the comments.

Borrower Stories and Contact Us Forms

CRL collects stories about predatory lending abuses on a voluntary basis. This information is considered strictly confidential. We do not sell, rent or otherwise make this information available to third parties of any kind without the user's explicit permission.

We use third-party social networking/social media tools as a supplemental channel to promote awareness of Center for Responsible Lending activities, events, news, and information. Those tools include:

Facebook

Facebook is a social networking website where users can connect and interact with other people. We typically post something new on our wall every workday to keep you up-to-date with lending news and information. YouTube

YouTube is a video sharing service owned by Google. CRL uses YouTube to share videos we make. We also include in our playlists videos by others that contain information we think visitors will find useful. LinkedIn is a social networking website where users can connect and interact with other people. CRL uses LinkedIn to share information about our organization and the lending issue we follow. Please note that you are subject to LinkedIn's privacy policy when visiting our LinkedIn page.

Twitter

Twitter is a microblogging service to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of short, frequent posts.We typically tweet once each business day to keep you abreast of what's new at CRL.Please note that you are subject to Twitter's privacy policy when visiting our Twitter page or using our Twitter “app”.
